Import and Export of Equipment

There is no restriction on the movement of personnel and goods within the European Union. Film equipment and corresponding items can be brought in and taken out of Austria without problems.

For exporting goods to a third country and importing from those countries, there is a simplified procedure to follow – which involves filling out the so-called ATA-Carnet form for temporary admission of goods. About 55 countries are ATA-Agreement partners with the exception of India and the Peoples’ Republic of China.

The ATA-Carnet form is available in English, German and French in the offices of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the countries that are signatory to the agreement. All items of equipment must be listed in this Carnet, which must be stamped and cleared by airport customs officials both upon entering and leaving the country (http://www.atacamet.com).

For Indian production companies, all equipment must be noted down at customs in passports and must be taken out of the country within six months.
